Wrought alu­mi­ni­um alloys stick and smear in the machi­ning pro­cess and are the­r­e­fo­re pro­ne to built-up edges and burrs. This is to be avo­ided by sup­p­ly­ing ple­nty of coo­ling lubri­cants, with all the dis­ad­van­ta­ges this ent­ails (rewor­king, clea­ning, etc.).

Com­ple­te dry machi­ning of alu­mi­ni­um is pos­si­ble at mode­ra­te tem­pe­ra­tures with a signi­fi­cant reduc­tion in cut­ting force and high effi­ci­en­cy in abso­lut­e­ly sta­ble mil­ling pro­ces­ses. Mas­si­ve savings in ener­gy cos­ts can also be achie­ved through up to 80 per­cent reduc­tion in CO2 con­sump­ti­on, which can also be sub­si­di­sed by the state.

Regis­ter today and expe­ri­ence live machi­ning of alu­mi­ni­um-magne­si­um-sili­con alloys (ENAW 6060 and ENAW 6005A). Con­vin­ce yours­elf of a tech­ni­cal­ly and phy­si­cal­ly com­ple­te­ly new way of mil­ling and the syn­er­gies and exper­ti­se of all part­ners invol­ved in the process.
